Richard Burton purchased the diamond at an auction in 1968 for $307,000, and it was formerly known as the Krupp Diamond. After Elizabeth Taylor’s passing in 2011, the Elizabeth Taylor Diamond sold for $8,818,500 ($8.8 million) as part of her estate assets.
